This week Reception had their 2nd swimming lesson and the children are already making progress! This week they learned to jump in from the side, float on their backs and put their face in the water. Then to build water confidence the children played in the water without touching the sides of the pool. This required lots of energy so all the children wore arm bands to keep them safe. The children had a great time and by the end of the lesson everyone had a smile of their face and had learned a new skill!

They can wait for their turn as well as get out and put away the equipment safely. These were new skills which were sometimes scary for the children but they concurred their fear and everyone made great progress.

Reception has been working out what they can do with different forms of transport. They learned how many bears it takes to sink a boat, talked about and compared the sizes of boats and cars, explored how changing gradient affects the speed of a car, and learned to play transport snap which is now a favourite game with all the children. The children also made a lifeboat station role play area and have been rescuing each other from the sharks.
